  4. Objectives:
  5.  
  6. ExtrasMgr is an Apple Newtonª utility that facilitates the organization
  7. of your Extras Drawer. Three main objectives guided this application:
  8.  
  9. A)     Allow access to all installed applications in the internal and 
  10.        external stores.
  11.  
  12. B)     Provide a shortcut way to get to your most frequently used appli-
  13.        cations via a button in the Notes application.
  14.  
  15. C)     Provide additional ways to view your applications lists by allowing 
  16.     you to organize your applications in folders and by using the 
  17.     sorting order of your preference.

  19. ======================================================================
  20. Current Bugs/Missing features:
  21.  
  22.     It lets you launch and close books but the information about each 
  23.     book is not complete ( like size, version, timeStamp, etc.). As a 
  24.     result of not being able to locate the book's package information
  25.     these can't be deleted from whitin "ExtrasMgrª". - Missing feature.

  28. Whats new in this version:
  29.  
  30.  A bug was found with some applications that install quick access button in the 
  31. "Notes" application status bar. The bug shows up when an application attempts to 
  32. install a button on an already full status bar. The button will place out of the 
  33. screen boundaries causing a bit of confusion for the Newtonª. "ExtrasMgr" checks 
  34. if the status bar is full and also checks if the quick access button will fit in the 
  35. space available. If there is no room for the button it will display a message 
  36. telling you so otherwise it will install it. The order in which you load these 
  37. applications may affect the result. Other applications may not handle this problem.
  38. Changing folders now hides the buttons in the "ExtrasMgr" status bar for clarity.
  39. And, some more error checking was added.
  40.

  42. Gotchas:
  43.  
  44.      "ExtrasMgrª" is only interested on keeping information that is 
  45.     being used. If you create a bunch of folders and any of these 
  46.     folders do not have any applications assigned to them the next 
  47.     time you startUp these folders will be gone. ONLY CREATE FOLDERS THAT
  48.     YOU ARE GOING TO USE. 
  49.         
  50.     ExtrasMgrª currently creates by default the "System" folder for 
  51.     packages built into the system and a "Books" folder for books. I 
  52.     would recomend that for the time being do not change these because
  53.     the next time you start ExtrasMgrª will be reasign to the default 
  54.     folder. I currently working on this flaw.
  55.

  57. Whats Next:
  58.  
  59. 1)    I will try to fix the known bugs in the application.
  60. 2)    I will try to fix any new bugs that you report.
  61. 3)    If response is positive and this application proves to be useful to 
  62.     Newtonª users I will continue to add more features.

  65. Disclaimer:
  66.  
  67.     I have not detected any problems when I have installed "ExtrasMgrª".
  68.     But I will strongly recomend that you make a backup of all your data
  69.     prior to installing this or any new software.    
  70.     
  71.     "ExtrasMgrª" has been tested on the 1.3(344052) MP110 & MP100. 
  72.     Future compatibility will depend upon the enhancements Apple Computer
  73.     performs in the new system.
